The Human Rights in Africa Series: Humanitarian Intervention

On April 28, 2010, the Legal Studies Department hosted Professor Kithure Kindiki from the University of Nairobi, for a public lecture: “Humanitarian Intervention: African Perspectives”. The lecture, which inaugurated the Human Rights in Africa lecture series, was introduced by Professor Karoly Bard, Pro-Rector, Hungarian and European Union Affairs, CEU/Chair, Human Rights Program, CEU.

Extensional Theories of Behavior

In his presentation, “Extensional theories of behavior,” Bart Geurts, Professor of Philosophy, University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands, posed the question whether it was legitimate to say that young infant’s attribute mental states such as “beliefs” and “goals”. He highlighted the importance of building a kitbag of new terms to describe more precisely and more cautiously what infants do when they act in accordance with people’s mental states.

Speech and Gender

Professor Florian Bieber Lectures on Bosnian Institutional Crisis

On March 31st, the Nationalism Studies Program hosted Professor Florian Bieber from the University of Kent (UK) for a public lecture: “Is Bosnia Failing?
