It has been ten years since the day when terrorists hijacked American passenger airliners and intentionally crashed them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon killing nearly 3,000 victims. That tragedy can never be forgotten.

As the tenth anniversary is coming up, the International Centre for Democratic Transition with the support of the U.S. Embassy will be organizing a conference in order to remember the past, and to discuss current issues and future implications of the aftermath of September 11. We hereby would like to cordially invite everyone to participate at the event.

The conference will be held at the Auditorium of Central European University (1051 Budapest, Nádor u. 9.) on Friday, September 9, from 9 AM to 1.15 PM, covering topics such as how 9/11 has changed the world, what its effects were on public life both in the USA and in Europe, what has been the perception of the Islamic world, and how governments and international organizations need to deal with the threats of terrorism.

The event will be opened by H.E. Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, Ambassador of the United States of America to Hungary and Prof. John Shattuck, President and Rector of Central European University, followed by keynote speeches from H.E. János Martonyi, Foreign Minister of Hungary, and Dr. William Rosenau, Adjunct Professor of the Security Studies Program of the Georgetown University.

Kindly note that the detailed agenda is available on the ICDT website at www.icdt.hu, and attached below.

To RSVP: Ms. Ágnes Novák at a.novak@icdt.hu or Ms. Katya Ivanova at k.ivanova@icdt.hu by September 5.
