The Economist have published a letter to the editor by an EPRG alumna Jessica Jewell (PhD EnvSci 2013, currently with IIASA, Austria) on Ukrainian energy use. Jessica argues that the challenge with Ukraine’s energy is the high energy intensity of its industry. Read more here.

Martin Kahanec, Associate Professor at the Department of Public Policy, presented as an invited expert at a seminar “Re-Thinking Attractiveness of Labour Migration Policies - Comparative Perspectives on the EU, the USA, Canada and Beyond” jointly organized by DG HOME, European Commission and CEPS under the NEUJOBS FP7 project in Brussels on February 14, 2014. Kahanec outlined a number of migration policy options and advocated for a flexible migration framework enabling Europe to attract and select immigrants with sound prospects in the labor market.

CEU at the World Water Week in Stockholm

The Environmental Systems Laboratory (http://syslab.ceu.hu) represents CEU at the World Water Week (http://www.worldwaterweek.org) held in Stockholm on September 1-6, 2013. Throughout the this event week, participants will have the opportunity to engage with leaders from government, business, academia and members from nearly 250 convening organisations.
