Meet CEU student and alumni scholarship recipient Ali Abdi

Second year gender studies student Ali Abdi left his native Iran just after that country's 2009 disputed presidential election. Active in both the student and women's rights movements, he came to Budapest wondering what he could do to continue the fight for democracy and human rights in his home country.

Since arriving, Ali has delivered presentations on citizen journalism in Iran, staged protests and events, lectured on the treatment of human rights advocates, and has even started a virtual project for anyone around the world to "adopt" an Iranian prisoner of conscience -- web-sit
