In part two of this digital story series, CEU President and Rector John Shattuck talks about his career path beginning as a trial lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and eventually working as an Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor under former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. In that role, he was involved in all of the major human rights crises of the early 1990s and his connection to Central and Eastern Europe began to deepen.
